provide a welcoming and safe learning environment for LGBTQ
students.

This website
provides information, materials, lesson plans and resources for
educators on how to create a safest school environment possible
for LGBT youth. There is also a section that focuses on laws and
policies that involve LGBT students and their protection in
schools.

This website
provides a step-by-step guide on how to create, and successfully
run a gay-straight alliance (GSA). There is tons of information
available on starting up a GSA, planning activities for a GSA, and
fundraising for a GSA. NOTE: This website is based in CA, so some
information may be non-applicable.

This website
is the official website of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight
Education Network (GLSEN). This website provides educators with
information on events that are going on across the country (ex:
“No Name Calling Week” 2007) and also lists trainings that GLSEN
staff will be running. The website also includes information on
how to create “Safe Space” programs in schools. This website
provides numerous resources on topics from how to deal with
anti-gay harassment in schools to starting up events like the “Day
of Silence”.

is the official website of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Teachers
Network. This organization is dedicated to creating safe school
environments where everyone is respected. This website provides
access to personal stories written by students and teachers that
exemplify some of the school-related issues that LGBT individuals
may face. This website also provides information on how to build
not only a safe school, but a safe community.

This website
provides tips for administrators and for teachers on how to, not
only create a safe space within the classroom, but also on how to
create a more “LGBT-friendly” environment around the entire
school. The website includes an actual outline of a training
session that could be effectively used when training teachers,
administrators and faculty members at a school. NOTE: This website
